Cheers to Friday – 4/30/20
Happy almost weekend! Here’s your Friday roundup of things that caught my eye this week.
- Thinking about growing a flower garden this year? My latest flower resource obsession has been Floret Flowers. There’s so many resources on their site, and they also will have a small series airing on Magnolia Network! Check out their popular book Floret Farm’s Cut Flower Garden for cut flower gardening tips and how-to’s.
- Recently I was curious about swapping the butter for shortening in a recipe so I did a little digging. I liked this article by King Arthur Flour that deep dives shortening vs. butter in baking with helpful side-by-side photos showcasing the differences.
- I’m still deep into sourdough baking and don’t plan to stop anytime soon. I’m baking up this Tartine Country Walnut Sourdough loaf this weekend.
- Speaking of sourdough, you can stop googling “sourdough discard projects” now (because you’ve found the absolutely easiest one).
- Love Thai food? It’s one of our favorites. Read up on How to Make the Real Pad Thai.
- This Banana Coconut Cream Pie recipe caught my eye. I love banana cream, and Michael loves coconut. Win-win!
- The Pink Lady Food Photo Awards 2020 winners were released this week. So many gorgeous images. Check it out.
- I finally got around to experimenting with double exposure this week (the image above). To be honest, it was far more simple than I thought, and I love the result. My next photography “to-do” is creating a diptych after being inspired by this article from Two Loves Studio.
- Mother’s Day is next weekend! I whipped up a quick gift guide for moms who love to bake.
Cheers to Friday, you lovelies!
