A Collection of Muffin Recipes
If muffins were people, I’d be married to one. That should give you a solid indication of how I feel about these delectable darlings. If there’s any baked item that makes me think of home, it would have to be muffins. My mum always made hers in jumbo-shaped heart tins, and as sentimental as it sounds, I loved it. Muffins are the perfect blend between dessert and bread, and a classic must-have for any baker.
Anytime I think of muffins, the classic nursery rhyme “Do you know the muffin man?” comes to mind. Drury Lane, as it happens, still exists in the eastern Covent Garden area of London, currently occupied by the famous Theater Royal. In the eighteenth century, the street was over-populated and let’s just say a less-than-stellar place to be. Victorian homes used to have baked goods delivered to them, hence muffin men. On Drury Lane at the time, muffin men could be seen walking up and down the street, selling and delivering their baked goods. Fascinating, right?!
